Ramadan Begins Tomorrow, See Iftar and Sehri Schedule
The holy month of Ramadan is set to begin tomorrow, Sunday, March 2, after the moon was sighted in the country’s sky today, Saturday. As per the decision of the National Moon Sighting Committee, devout Muslims will offer Taraweeh prayers tonight and have their pre-dawn meal (Suhur) to begin fasting from tomorrow.
The decision was made in a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the National Mosque, Baitul Mukarram. The Islamic Foundation confirmed this in a press release. Officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, representatives from the Islamic Foundation, and prominent scholars attended the meeting. After confirming the moon sighting, it was unanimously decided that Ramadan would commence on Sunday.
Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. During this month, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, refraining from eating, drinking, and all forms of indulgence. It is considered a month of self-purification, where Muslims strive to attain Allah’s blessings through devotion, sacrifice, and self-restraint.

With Ramadan starting, devout Muslims are preparing for Taraweeh prayers in mosques. Special prayer arrangements will be made at major mosques, including Baitul Mukarram. Worshippers will spend the nights reciting the Quran and offering supplications.
Meanwhile, various religious and social organizations are gearing up for Suhur and Iftar arrangements. Free Iftar meals will be distributed to the underprivileged in different locations. Additionally, to keep essential commodity prices stable, the government and business associations have taken various measures.
A special night of Ramadan, Laylat al-Qadr, holds immense spiritual significance. According to the National Moon Sighting Committee, this blessed night will be observed on the night of Thursday, March 27. Muslims will engage in intense worship to seek closeness to Allah on this night.
In light of Ramadan, both government and private offices will operate on revised schedules. The Islamic Foundation has announced that special office hours will be in effect during the month to facilitate worship.
